TCO calculator for electric company cars

What does an electric company car really cost? This company car TCO calculator gives TCO1, TCO2, TCO3 and the TCO defined by the Belgian Royal Decree on the mobility budget, for operational leasing. Every assumption is visible and editable, and every result unfolds down to the formula.

Parameters up to date as of 14 October 2026. Indicative tool: it does not replace advice from a tax specialist or the calculation by your social secretariat.

Part 1: from car to TCO

For the employee, for information

Part 2: from budget to car

Same assumptions as in part 1. Only the lease price and the catalogue value are recalculated, and consumption follows the catalogue value.

Known limitations: the CO2 contribution is that of the subscription year, although it changes every year of the contract; the BIK is that of the first year; default lease prices come from a public configurator, without fleet discount; road taxes are assumed to be included in the lease price.

What this company car TCO calculator calculates

The TCO (total cost of ownership) of an electric company car is more than the lease price. This calculator adds up the lease, electricity by charging location, the home charger, non-recoverable VAT, the CO2 solidarity contribution and corporate income tax, using the Belgian rules that apply according to the year the lease was signed.

TCO1, TCO2 and TCO3: three levels of reading

  • TCO1: everything the employer pays, including non-recoverable VAT and the CO2 contribution.
  • TCO2: TCO1 plus corporate income tax on non-deductible costs and on the share of the benefit in kind (BIK) treated as a disallowed expense.
  • TCO3: TCO2 minus the tax saving, in other words the net cost for the company.

The mobility budget TCO under the Royal Decree

The Belgian Royal Decree of 10 September 2023 sets how the amount of the mobility budget is calculated. It provides two methods, which the calculator shows side by side: actual costs, and a flat-rate method in which energy is replaced by a mileage flat rate. That flat rate equals (6,000 km + home-to-work distance × 2 × 200 days) × 30% of the federal mileage allowance, whatever the actual price of electricity. In 2026, the mobility budget ranges from €3,233 to €17,244 a year.

From budget to lease: the reverse calculation

The second part starts from an annual budget, for example a category in your car policy, and derives the affordable monthly lease price and an indicative catalogue value, using the same assumptions as the first part.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator work for a petrol, diesel or hybrid car?

No. It covers 100% electric cars in operational leasing, more than eight out of ten new company cars in the first quarter of 2026 (NSSO). For a combustion or plug-in hybrid car, deductibility and the CO2 contribution follow different rules.

Why does the subscription year change the result?

For an electric car, corporate tax deductibility depends on the date the car was ordered or the lease was signed: 100% until 31 December 2026, 95% in 2027, 90% in 2028. The rate stays fixed for the whole term of the contract.

Does the default lease price match a real offer?

No. It is an order of magnitude taken from a public configurator, without fleet discount. Replace it with the lease price from your offer: the whole calculation follows.

Where do the parameters come from?

From official texts (Royal Decree, FPS Finance circulars, NSSO, CREG) and public sources, all listed with their link above. They are up to date as of 14 October 2026.
