The chart below gives you a comparison
of the CO2 emissions regarding
different types of vehicles.
Bicycles and electric bicycles remain the best in class for short trips.
For longer trips, the train is an excellent solution.
The plane is not on the chart as it is much more
(above 280 g/km per passenger).
Note that we have considered here the emissions of the Belgian energy mix (349g/kWh), except for the train.
However, the type of electricity supply is the key factor influencing this result.
Note also that the emissions related to the construction of the different vehicles and their installation are not taken into account here.
