1 in 35 employees swap their company car 🚘 for a mobility budget 💶

Employers in Brussels are leading the way: one in 30 has already introduced this system"

Exciting insights from SD Worx reveal a fascinating workplace trend: 1 in 35 employees choose to let go of the traditional company cars in favour of flexible budget alternatives.

This means that one in every 250 workers today has a mobility budget.

This data signals a significant shift in how employees perceive and prioritize workplace benefits. Rather than sticking to the conventional perks, such as a company vehicle, individuals are increasingly seeking out customizable options that better align with their lifestyle and values.

If we look more in detail at the figures, we can see the positive trend and the huge potential:

📈 3.5% of employers in Brussels, compared with 2.6% in 2022.

📈 1% of Flemish employers (0.7% last year). Flemish Brabant leads the way (with 2.6%).

📈 0.8% of Walloon employers (compared with 0.5% in 2022); Walloon Brabant leads the way with 2.4%.

This shift reflects a broader movement towards personalized and sustainable solutions in the modern workforce. Employees are becoming more conscious of their environmental footprint and are actively seeking out greener transportation alternatives. This is Mindful Mobility.

By opting for flexible budget arrangements, they gain the freedom to choose transportation options that suit their needs, whether it's investing in 🚇 public transit, 🚕 car-sharing services, or 🚲 🛵 🚗 eco-friendly vehicles and especially 🏡 housing costs which are massively used.

Employers, too, stand to benefit from this trend. Companies can enhance employee satisfaction, retention, and overall well-being by offering flexible benefits packages that cater to individual preferences. Moreover, embracing sustainable practices in employee benefits aligns with corporate social responsibility initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement.

That’s also our experience at Next Mobility; as the workplace continues to evolve, employers need to stay tuned to these shifting preferences and adapt their benefits offerings accordingly. By embracing flexibility and sustainability, organizations can foster a more engaged and empowered workforce while also contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future.

You haven’t implemented the mobility budget yet? Probably time to consider it.
