CO2 emissions of electric vehicles and new bicycle lanes in Brussel:

Two mobility-related topics subject to tough debates.

Last week reports were published on both topics.

📌 Comparing the lifetime greenhouse gas emissions of electric cars with the emissions of cars using gasoline or diesel by Auke Hoekstra and Maarten Steinbuch from Eindhoven University of Technology.

This article mainly highlights the usual mistakes done by other reports, not in favour of eV.

Comparing the CO2eq emissions over the lifetime of two similar cars in grams/km

What is quite relevant in this report is the comparison between a Mercedes C220d and a Tesla 3 (65% fewer emissions).

Certainly for company car fleets.

Note that Tesla 3 is one of the most efficient #ev (check EV Database for details)

Note also that to carry one single person between two points

📌 Touring together with STRATEC S.A. question more the street selection for the new bicycle lanes that the lanes themselves.

They came with an interesting concept of converting some streets to streets done only for bicycles and pedestrians.

axes studied by Touring and stratec for bicycle roads in Brussels

This to increase their safety while lowering the impact on the main axes.

This has to be confirmed as in this case "Waze" shortcuts wouldn't be possible anymore.
