{"id":2322,"date":"2024-06-12T12:23:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-12T10:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nextmobility.be\/non-categorise\/la-mobilite-en-2030\/"},"modified":"2025-09-17T13:37:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-17T11:37:49","slug":"mobility-in-2030","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextmobility.be\/en\/post\/mobility-in-2030\/","title":{"rendered":"Mobility in 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\ud83d\ude80 Last Friday,\u00a0Andr\u00e9 Simonart\u00a0and I had the pleasure to share our vision of Mobility in 2030 invited by\u00a0Bart de Hoog\u00a0at\u00a0Dragintra&#8217;s 25th birthday celebration! \ud83c\udf89<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"https:\/\/video.wixstatic.com\/video\/19bc2a_e16751adabc04229b3413bcb2f2a6eab\/720p\/mp4\/file.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-9g48r39489\">We began our presentation by looking back at the changes in fleet management from 2010, driven by a new component; \u00ab CO2 \u00bb with CO2 targets and CO2-based taxes, that transformed significantly the car industry in Europe. \ud83d\ude97\ud83c\udf0d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-imsv239493\">Next, we dived into current commuting trends. The car still dominates in commuting choices but decreased over the last decade while active mobility is on the rise. The sweet spot for change lies between 5 and 50km, considering the dynamic nature of our daily mobility. \ud83d\udeb6\u200d\u2642\ufe0f\ud83d\udeb4\u200d\u2640\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-88lxo39497\">The mobility budget is a perfect example of tools enabling this shift. It allows us to combine a car AND various alternatives in regard of an individual conscious choice combining environmental impact, time spent, and additional benefits during commuting like comfort, exercising, financial savings or social connections. \ud83c\udf31\ud83d\udcb0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-0vr1s39501\">We&#8217;re witnessing these changes primarily in urban and peri-urban areas with the emergence of mobility hubs, equally shared spaces, and zero-emission zones. \ud83c\udfd9\ufe0f\u267b\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-schiq39505\">Technological and behavioural changes are driving the Avoid-Shift-Improve principle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-nfs4a39509\">1\ufe0f\u20e3 Avoid: Increased homeworking and the ability to work from anywhere \ud83c\udfe1\ud83d\udcbb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-vbrp939513\">2\ufe0f\u20e3 Shift: Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and pay-as-you-go models make transitions between modes smoother, encouraging short-distance mobility shifts \ud83d\ude89\ud83d\udef4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ksgro39517\">3\ufe0f\u20e3 Improve: Electrification of vehicles including bikes \u26a1\ud83d\ude97<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-m7vne39521\">Autonomous vehicles also play a part in this improvement. For efficiency, they need to be shared\u2014both the rides and the vehicles. This approach is already implemented by&nbsp;Ruter As&nbsp;in Norway, as discussed at last Thursday&#8217;s&nbsp;FOD Mobiliteit en Vervoer \/ SPF Mobilit\u00e9 et Transports&nbsp;event, and is spreading across the US and Asia \ud83e\udd16\ud83d\ude98 where they did 65 million km last year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-0gibq39529\">While cars will remain important, their role will evolve towards usage-based models rather than ownership. \ud83d\ude97\ud83d\udca1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-ty4sw39533\">For companies, this means increasingly complex mobility packages requiring support from external players like&nbsp;Dragintra&nbsp;or&nbsp;Next Mobility&nbsp;to manage day-to-day operations. \ud83c\udfe2\ud83d\udd27<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-t42jd39541\">Success in implementation hinges on careful planning, streamlined operational processes, and effective coaching. Our experience shows that even with the best apps, companies need optimized operations and employees need human interaction and clear explanations. \ud83d\udc65\ud83d\udcc8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"viewer-6mcsq39545\">We were joined by&nbsp;Erik Swerts, CEO of&nbsp;Alphabet Belgium, and Eddy Haesendonck, CEO of&nbsp;Hedin Automotive Belgium Luxembourg.
